I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

This shop for Finish dishwasher cleaner has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions about using it for clean dishes, a healthy family and saving money are mine alone. #SparklySavings #CollectiveBias

Unless you exclusively use disposable products, one of the chores every family has to do is washing the dishes.  While I want the boys to learn good hand washing techniques, I find that they often miss the mark which has me redoing their work.  Washing dishes twice means using twice as much hot water and eating up time I could be devoting elsewhere.  Plus, with cold and flu season around the corner I want to make sure that we are keeping germs at bay.  After all, being sick or having sick kids is NOT fun.  I don’ t know about you, but I can’t handle washing dishes by hand at a temperature hot enough to kill off those germs.

When we bought our new dishwasher a few years ago, the company recommended Finish dishwasher cleaner.  Ever since, we have been using Finish Powerball or Gelpacs in our unit and are quite pleased with how they work.

One aspect of using these convenient products which I adore is that even my youngest son can help ‘wash’ the dishes.  A little help with how to load is typically needed and he can only reach the silverware to put away.  However, he’s quite capable of opening and inserting the Powerball into the detergent container in the dishwasher door!

While we usually go for energy savings mode when operating the dishwasher, I am not averse to using it to sterilize everything if someone has been sick.  We just went through that mode while visiting my mother in law this past month.  Poor little J was feeling off the day we left Alaska for New York.  By the next morning, a stomach bug had a firm grip on him and we really did NOT want it to spread.  Full steam ahead on sterilizing those utensils, cups and plates!

I was really excited to hear that Walmart has a Rollback for the Finish going until October.  Plus, you can pair the rollback pricing with a coupon for amazing savings!

With school back in session (both in our district and at our homeschool), I decided to pop over to our local Walmart to stock up.  I wanted to try the Finish Quantum Power and Free as it has less harsh chemicals.  That has to be good for my family’s overall health and well being!

I could not be more pleased with how this dishwasher cleaner works.  I made a baked pasta dish for dinner one night.

Melted cheese is notorious for being hard to clean, but the Finish Quantum Power and Free had NO issues getting my casserole dish clean.

Now if I could just get the boys to move beyond the easy task of loading, running and unloading the dishwasher, I’d be one happy mama.  I purchased a set of hanging chore charts for the boys and just need to find the best place to hang them so basic routines get firmly established and the house might be a little bit cleaner as a result.

  1. I hate cleaning dishes after eating pasta. It feels like I can never get all the grease off with one rinse. I am amazed at how easy and clean after using Finish.

  2. I use the dishwasher as well as washing by hand. It’s just my husband and me so I don’t want to end up running the dishwasher several times a week for just glasses and such so I hand wash those. But I do use Finish and love it.
