40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2016 Week 4
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Today is Laetare Sunday in the liturgical year for the Roman Catholic Church. Below is an image from St. Patrick Church in Columbus, Ohio from a past Laetare Sunday. After several years having a pastor who refused to wear ‘pink’ vestments, it was lovely to see the Archbishop, our associate pastor and one of the deacons with their rose vestments for Mass last night.
Can you believe that we are half way through Lent now?
How are you doing on your Lenten ‘resolutions’ this year?
I have found that like past years, what I planned to do and what actually happens doesn’t look the same.
I was able to attend the first MOMS session for (affiliate link): Consoling the Heart of Jesus: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat- Inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius by Father Michael Gaitley, MIC. It promises to be a wonderful study. Unfortunately, the AcaDeca study group is going to be meeting at the same time each week. So, I have my online account set up via our parish to work on it myself.
This past week found me off the computer more than usual. My laptop took a little sip of my coffee early in the week and it didn’t quite agree with it. I’ve been able to reboot the computer but have to use a wireless keyboard to do anything. And, you can’t predict how many minutes of typing you’ll get before it starts doing a string of 6’s ad Infinium. So you might get an hour of work done before having to quickly turn it off. Or you might eek out just 15 minutes.
One upside is that I immediately backed up the entire computer to an external hard drive. It had been a few months since I’d backed up and the coffee spill was a wake-up call to not put it off that long again. But, another upside is that I could do things at home or out and about town without worrying about all the work I should be doing online. As I couldn’t so all the stuff I thought I needed, the times I have been online have been more focused. Instead, I made lasagna from scratch including the sauce (as all the commercial ones I’ve purchased have added sugar and I’m supposed to be cutting it out as much as possible.) I also went to daily Mass on Wednesday and then the MOMS study on Thursday without feeling rushed to get home.

I’ll be writing a review of a new book coming out in early April called (affiliate) Unstuffed: Decluttering Your Home, Mind and Soul which tackles not only letting go of the physical clutter, but also mental and emotional clutter as well.
With my forced downtime, it’s been easier to have time to read through the book. And to notice the piles of stuff which have taken over our home.
This past week was a bit slow for link ups. I’m guessing there are a lot more people doing a digital fast this Lent than in the past.
My highlight for this week is Virginia’s post, Love Endures All Things, at Virginia Lieto.
Such a great reminder of what 1 Corinthians 13:7 says to us as well as the fact that once we arrive in Heaven we’ll no longer need the virtues of faith and hope. Yet, love will remain.

We are expanding the platform for this meme to include a 40 Days of Seeking Him Pinterest board for submitted posts and a Facebook group. I hope that you’ll check out the Pinterest board and join us on Facebook, too, as we seek to grow closer to Christ.
