40 Days of Seeking Him ~ Advent 2011 ~ Week Two

As I pen this week’s post that will hold the linky, I am amazed at how quickly time has flown.  Last week saw 15 submissions (which included 3 of my own posts.)  I read and commented on several, but not all of them.

 

I still have not retrieved the Advent wreath from it’s box.  Instead, the boys and I were working furiously to prepare the house for guests.   Mr. O’s pellet stove project created it’s own chaos that needed to be tamed plus the other areas of the house had not received the level of attention they should have over the past few weeks.  (Anyone with a busy schedule and kids can most likely relate to how that happens.)  Add in the challenge of vacuuming wall to wall carpet when the beater brush is broken, and it made for a long process which fell short of what I wanted the house to look like for our guests.

 

As I toiled in my labors, I did take pause now and again to consider how Advent is also a time for us to prepare ourselves to receive Christ.  Many of us decorate the physical world and maybe even wear special attire to acknowledge Christmas is coming.  But, God provides a wonderful opportunity to prepare our spirits to receive the most wonderful gift imaginable.  While I will still do the physical, I seek to embrace the spiritual.
