Winter has now hit Alaska with a few inches of snow being left each day. The shorter days along with grey skies can really help to cause a dip in your positive feelings. Sometimes all it takes to help boost your mood is one new piece in your wardrobe.
A recent trip to Kohl’s had me bringing home this gorgeous red and black striped knit top from Dana Buchman. It was on sale (the ONLY way I shop if I can help it) and I felt that it was something that would work well with existing pieces in my wardrobe.
The fabric is comfortable and drapes well on your body. I was afraid that the stripes would make me look larger than I am, but I don’t feel that way now.
Rather than just a straight striped fabric, this top uses a layering effect on the front to add more texture to your outfit.
Overall, I am quite pleased with this new addition to my closet. I can use it for a casual date night outfit or wear it to church. If it wasn’t so chilly in Alaska now, I’d even consider a basic black skirt to dress it up.
These photos were snapped before the snow started flying when attending a meeting at the Archdiocese of Anchorage’s Chancery office in the downtown section.
What is the last new item you brought home to freshen up the closet?
