The holiday season has made its way to us with the early appearance of Christmas decorations in stores. While I do not like feeling the season beginning earlier, I do enjoy the opportunity to check out new films like Miracle Maker which have a tie to Christmas but are not doing a frenzy of hall deckin’ in the process.
About Miracle Maker
It all starts with one little seed of love.”The Miracle Maker is coming!”
Everyone in the tiny hamlet is excited when they hear the news that the renowned man of wonders is coming to their village. But the humble traveler who appears isn’t what anyone expected. They were looking forward to someone magnificent who would change their lives. But it seems this man can barely take care of himself, let alone fulfill the dreams of others.
However, miracles can come in all shapes and sizes-and sometimes from unexpected places.
My Thoughts on Miracle Maker
Overall, this was an enjoyable story that is quite appropriate for all family members. It has a gentle feel like I remember from watching shows like Little House on the Prairie as a child. There is something appealing and even a bit soothing watching a story unfold during less ‘complicated’ times like we have in our modern world. Or, maybe a better way to look at it is a time when people had far less possessions and stuff like we do now.
While this production is going straight to DVD and streaming purchases, the film is not low quality. The actors and actresses do a good job portraying their characters. You can especially see this in some of the younger actors and actresses who deliver spot on the emotions their charcters would have been feeling. Also, the location chosen to film was perfect at providing an isolated western town feel.
When the ‘miracle maker’ interacts with each of the town’s inhabitants, the miracles come from changes within each individual. In many ways, one can draw a parallel from Jesus’ life and that of the miracle maker in the film. Both arrived in a place where people had certain expectations which soon led to disappointment. However, what they brought was far more precious than the things people desired. People’s lives are transformed because they let go of old attitudes and behaviors and embrace new ones that help to turn a frown into a smile. And, that is the main take away from this show for me…. rather than wallow thinking about what you feel to be lacking in your life, embrace the goodness there is and before you know it your feelings will follow suit.
Do you enjoy faith based films like this one?
What is a favorite holiday show in your house that is NOT a mainstream one?

This looks really good. I hadn’t heard of this yet, but I think my family would enjoy it.
