I love the stage of life when a child is so curious to learn about God and eagerly listens to Bible stories and enjoys learning some basic prayers.  While I have been teaching J several of the ‘standards’ of our faith (e.g. the Our Father), I also want him to learn that you can go to God with whatever is on your heart.  Little Angels Prayers for Every Day by Roma Downey is a title that’s recently entered our house and helps show a more conversational style of prayer which fits with what a preschooler experiences.

My Thoughts on Little Angels Prayers for Every Day

We really love this title and J has asked to incorporate reading a few of the prayers during his ‘school time’ with me.  He was tickled when it arrived and carried it around the house to show his big brothers his new prayer book.  You can even find him just sitting to ‘read’ the book on his own!

Reading Little Angels Prayers for Every Day

I love the simple approach to the prayers in language that the child can easily relate to in their life as well as the lovely illustrations.  J likes to find the page and point to a selection for me to read.  Even if he wanted to read each of the prayers, the book could be read completely in short order.  For me, though, I like to use it as an example of the different things we can take to God in prayer.

  1. When their dad is home we pray together but when he is gone I pray with my children. Praying together really helps them learn.
