Lent Explained in Video Format

Lent is a time when we enter the desert and grow closer to God.

Yesterday afternoon, I was going through some of my Facebook groups.  (No, I don’t give up social media for Lent as this blog is a business and I need to be present.)  I really liked this video explaining Ash Wednesday in about 2 minutes:

I’ve gone onto Busted Halo’s website in the past, but needed a reminder from someone else about this awesome site.  They have an online Lenten Calendar which I hope to check each day. Plus, they have this slightly longer video “You Don’t Know Jack” series which is more of a word on the street look at Lent:

Here’s another one that has a very engaging priest talking about preparing for Lent and what is the point of it. Specifically, “Fr. Mike explains how prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are the three pillars of a spiritually fruitful Lent.”

I like that he is addressing us to find something that will help us grow closer to Christ and do it intentionally.

As for how I did yesterday, we attended morning Mass (arriving a few minutes late as getting up before 9 a.m. seems like torture to my teens) and received our ashes.

I kept the fast using the (coach link) 3 Day Refresh from Beachbody. Even though my boys weren’t eating all day long, it was almost sheer torture to smell them making grilled cheese and knowing I had a small plate of veggies and fruit to go with the vanilla drink from that program. I am SO looking forward to Friday when I am back to more food options!

Now…if how people treated each other was the criteria for a good day….well, I have a few boys who’d have flunked out. Even my own attitude teetered on the negative and I found myself dreaming about leaving homeschooling behind in favor of a grown up job.

How is your Lent going so far?

  1. Very interesting information. I like how you pulled all the videos together. Sometimes my eyes get tired reading and the videos are a nice break 🙂 .
    Blessings,
