In an ideal world, we would get everything our body needs from our food.
But, we aren’t in that ideal world. This applies to our kids as much as it does to us.
So, that leaves the busy parent looking for a way to help their child support health. Often this means looking for supplements.
That’s why I opted to test out some of the products from Gut Connection Kids by Country Life.
About Gut Connection Kids by Country Life
Country Life is a supplement company for the whole family. However, for this campaign, the focus is on their Gut Connection Kids product line.
These are prebiotics. Nutrition to help feed your gut which then affects your overall health.
The supplements are scientifically formulated to connect the gut to individual health concerns.
Each contain the clinically studied Epicor® Whole Food Fermentate prebiotic shown to support immune and gut health.
All of the supplements are gluten free and avoid preservatives and artificial sweeteners.
With the exception of the one for sleep, the other products are animal shaped chewable tablets.
Digestive Balance™
This product supplies nutrients to support gut health.
In particular, the goal is to help reduce occasional bloating or discomfort, and even improve weekly bowel movements.
Immune Balance™
This product has nutrients that work as prebiotics as well as other immune-supporting ingredients to support a strong & healthy immune system and improve gut microbiome health.
Cognitive Balance™
This product is meant to help support focus.
Specifically methylated B vitamins and Neurofactor™, which is derived from coffee.
These substances help with communication between your gut and brain as well as support neurotransmitter creation in the brain.
Sleep Balance™
Unike the other supplements, this one is a chocolate flavored powder you add to a drink (milk or water) or a snack (like yogurt or ice cream.)
Lactium, a patented bioactive peptide coming from milk, is added to other nutrients to help reduce stress that can interfere with sleep.
Our Thoughts on These Supplements
During this sampling period, we only used the Cognitive Balance™ and Kids Sleep Balance™ products.
We’ve noticed that J’s sleep patterns are erratic at times. He claims to struggle with falling asleep and staying asleep.
Whether it is stress related or not, I figured it would be beneficial to test out a supplement to help him fall and stay asleep.
It certainly doesn’t hurt to be chocolate flavored!
The other area of concern is being focused during school time. Especially when working on subjects like math.
Since he is over the age of 9, the dosage is 4 tablets per day. We are just using it on school days right now.
And he said the flavor is good. He just can’t put his finger on what it reminds him of, but they call it sweet and sour.
