Do You Feel Like a #MomFail?
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Life on social media can be deceptive and lead to feelings of failure. All those pretty pictures cropped just so showing a beautiful life that looks nothing like yours.
Instead, your day might be one with dishes overflowing from the sink, piles of paper everywhere, small toy pieces (especially Legos) strung across the floor, and kids asking what they can eat for the tenth time today as you try to make dinner. Then your husband walks in and tries his best to not comment about the chaos your home has become since having all the kids and deciding to homeschool them.
Well, you are NOT alone mama!
What I just described is what my life looks like more often than I care to admit. The photo below was an attempt in the past to show just how messy our life gets.
It can definitely depress you if you let it. If I start comparing my life to those of friends and relatives, I can quickly give myself a big giant F in the motherhood and homemaker areas of life.
If this sounds even remotely familiar, you need to know two things:
- You are not a failure. Most of us feel this way far more than we ever admit.
- All the ways you failed?? How awful you were today or last week? It’s just not true. You’re doing better than you think.
I’ve had these sorts of days myself more often than I care to admit. Having my own boys call me on failures (e.g. housework) can really sting, too.
Instead of wallowing in guilt, I look for all the GOOD that is around me.
I have healthy children.
We have a nice house to live in and food for our bellies.
My husband has a job that is able to provide all that we need and even some of our wants.
I’m sure the list could go on if I let it. Rather than allowing negative thoughts to hit hard, look for the positive in your life.
What are some ways you overcome the #MomFail syndrome?
