40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2016 Week 3

So here we are at the start of the 3rd full week of Lent. Time marches forward and I hope that everyone reading these posts is finding something helpful for growing closer to Christ during this season.

My youngest son, husband and I attended Stations of the Cross again this past Friday. During the simple soup supper beforehand, we had the opportunity to meet someone who is newer to the parish but grew up in Anchorage.  It was so much fun hearing about how things were during the 1960s and 1970s!

I am also signed up to join the new study with our MOMS group (affiliate link): Consoling the Heart of Jesus: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat- Inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius by Father Michael Gaitley, MIC. This study combines the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius with the teachings of Saints Thérèse of Lisieux, Faustina Kowalska, and Louis de Montfort. The author has a remarkable gift for inspiring little souls to trust in Jesus, The Divine Mercy.

I plan to work through this on my own should my ability to attend the in person gathering is hindered.  Saturday night (yesterday), the team for Academic Decathlon which my 10th grade son is took 1st place for Alaska (1st time ever as it almost always has been one of the schools in Fairbanks.) I missed the other long study the MOMS group did this school year as it conflicted with his AcaDeca study group.  So…I might be working on it while sitting at his study groups for the next month and a half.

I have a few posts to highlight from last week. But, first I wanted to share how I am still feeling quite moved after reviewing He Named Me Malala this past week.

Social justice is something we are called to embrace as Christians.  While it doesn’t always mean we have to be as vocal of activists like Malala has been, we are called to speak the truth rather than allow a lie to remain.  If you have the National Geographic Channel available, it will be airing on Monday, February 29th at 8 pm est / 7 pm cst.

Anna at Stuffed Veggies linked up an awesome post sharing 40 different vegan options to make for dinner.  As someone who occasionally struggles with what to make on a meatless night, this is a boon for my planning.  Definitely check it out and see what you or your family might enjoy.

My Weakness in Recent Spiritual Battles, and Our Lord’s Divine Mercy at Splendor Catholicae Veritatis is a great reminder about our struggles in everyday life. I can definitely relate to not being as good about my prayer life as I’d like.
