40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2012~ Awaiting Easter

We are just hours away from Easter and it seems like Lent actually flew by at a good clip this year.

I’ve done well with my coffee fast, just having a cup on Sundays as they are outside of Lent.  I even did something that surprised me yesterday… a water with squirt of fresh lemon fast until dinner around 6:30 p.m.  I know it had to have been prompted by the Holy Spirit as the thought popped into my head upon rising in the morning and I felt such peace at the decision.  We also had an electronics fast yesterday afternoon and I stayed off the computer until today.

Along with the quiet afternoon, I read all four gospel Passion readings and could not get over both the similarities and differences. P and I also attended the first Faith Walk (Scriptural Stations) in our town that our parish hosted.  I am hoping that next year will see more Christian brothers and sisters joining us in reflecting upon Christ’s Passion.

 

 

This afternoon I have some preparations for tomorrow as I’m playing piano at Mass with the children’s choir.  Life was so busy with testing for the boys this week that I didn’t have the energy to rehearse until today.

 

We also had some last minute shopping for Easter dinner preparations.  Lamb is on the menu with roasted potatoes and vegetables.  I might even make some whole wheat challah bread to complete the meal.

But, what I relish the most is the time spent with God’s Word this Lent as well as the growth obtained through different sacrificial acts.  After all, Lent is prime time for helping grow closer to God and the ultimate goal of Heaven.
