40 Days of Seeking Him 2011 ~ Day 4

Today, we had a sacrifice of time. While most of the family had little interest in going, we all attended the Cub Scout Troop’s Pinewood Derby. It’s the first one for D as a Cub Scout as we were in transition last year. The older boys had the option to stay home (with Little J), yet they opted to come with us. I had the monthly ladies group meeting on my schedule, but chose to be present for D at this event instead. Even Mr. O probably had other things he’d rather have been doing (like the bathroom remodel he’s doing.)
We left shortly after the wolf dens had raced as D did not place in the top 3. Since it was a nice, clear day, we took a short drive to Earthquake Park to see the mountain ranges across Cook Inlet. Our blog header is a photo taken from that spot last year using a cell phone camera. This time, Mr. O had his new fancy DSLR camera with him.
Aside from some complaints of hungry bellies as we made our way home, it was an enjoyable late morning. While few of us really wanted to go, we had the opportunity to spend time together as a family after leaving the event. In a way, this was a reward for our sacrifice of time.
So often those sacrifices made can be rewarded, sometimes in ways you may not have considered. Which makes me wonder how many blessings I may have never experienced because I didn’t make the sacrifice at the time.
And thus ends tonight’s ramblings…it’s time to change the clocks and head to bed.
Sometimes God gives us the sweetest blessings when we do what we really didn't want to do.Love the photo! Beautiful.Blessings,Trishhttp://ahouseupontherock.com
Life is full of those types of sacrifice opportunities- and they often do turn out to be blessings. You do have some of the most beautiful scenery where you live!!
I'll bet D was so happy to have you there. Sometimes giving of ourselves is the greatest gift of all. That photo is breathtaking!
