The gang at Veggie Tales is back at it with a new DVD released this week titled The Little House That Stood.  My boys were thrilled to have it arrive last week in our house to review and it’s definitely one we’ll be watching multiple times.

Our Thoughts about The Little House That Stood

We have been huge Veggie Tales fans for years.  The short shows are usually layered with fun and Sunday morning values for the kids with hints of humor that the adults watching alongside will get.  The Little House That Stood is no exception to this wonderful blend of material for child and adult alike.  The lesson for this particular title is making good choices and both of the segments do a great job of conveying that message.

The fairy tale design of both shorts on the DVD went quite well.  Seeing the different beloved Veggie Tale characters dressed up as nursery rhyme characters was a hoot.  Bob makes a wonderful egg with a crack that grows from all the stress in his life.  And, I could think of no one better than Larry the Cucumber to be Jack who jumps over the candlestick.

The older boys only had one negative comment about this DVD and it had to do with the title short, The Little House That Stood.  They know the original Three Little Pigs story and found it a little disconcerting that the Veggie Tales gang took poetic license to have the house on the firm foundation be made of wood instead of bricks.  Otherwise, though, they all give this title a big thumbs up!

  1. We love Veggie Tales, I always try to include as a gift to our little ones in the family. It really gives them a good start and lesson on being getting around others. My granddaughter loved Jonah and the Whale. When she first saw it, she went to daycare and tried to explain to the other kids. She came home sad, my friends just didn’t understand about the whale and Jonah. My daughter sent it to school for everyone to watch. She does that with all the Veggies tales videos she gets. Sometimes she will get 2 and just give one to daycare. It teaches a lesson that is sometimes hard to communicate with our kids.

  2. So many of the Veggie Tales movies are excellent. Love the messages they give kids. But for favorite fun movie I’m going to go with the feature film the Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything

  3. My favorite Veggie Tale is the one with the Bible stories. I let my son watch that one all the time. I hope to win this for him.
