Tween and Teen focused toys
As a parent, it is easy to consider play for a young child. As they get older, it is important to keep encouraging time for play with tween and teen focused toys.
While my boys may enjoy video games as much as the next kid, I am talking about toys that get them active, either physically or creatively.
With that in mind, my tween and I have been testing out a few newer toy options for his age range.
For review, we were sent the All Pro Passer, Laser X Long Range Blasters, and Spybots Cybernetic Security Robots Room Guardian. As always all opinions are our own.
All Pro Passer
The All-Pro Passer Robotic Quarterback provides the ability for a child to practice catching a football without someone skilled in throwing it along for the ride.
This robotic device uses a smaller than average football that is shot threw the air with a level of accuracy you’d expect from a quarterback.
Programmed with the skill, timing, and accuracy of a pro quarterback, the All-Pro Passer launches the ball over 25 yards!
You can pick from nine different passing zones, providing the chance to practice hundreds of plays.
Just select your play, then press hike, slant, post, short or long. The All-Pro Passer throws a perfect spiral every time.
Note ~ This requires 4 C batteries.

Laser X Long Range Blaster Set
This set provides 2 blasters with a long-range included, a whole 500 feet!
You can use this inside or outside and players can pick from 20 different team colors.
Blaster beams go through windows and strategically bounce off walls and mirrors to hit opponents, while rapid-fire and quick-slide reload keep the action going. Advanced sensors allow an interactive voice “coach” to offer tips and tricks throughout the game.
All Laser X gear works together and can include unlimited players.
Each blaster requires 3 AAA batteries.
Spybots Cybernetic Security Robots Room Guardian
This is a motion-activated robot that gets attached to your door to provide round-the-clock room security.
The owner programs it with a secret passcode. Anyone who wants to enter must know the passcode.
If the wrong passcode is entered or no code at all, the Room Guardian goes into intruder mode”, flashing its super-bright lights and sounding its alarms.
The Room Guardian requires 3 AAA batteries.
Our Thoughts on these Tween and Teen Boys
My boys definitely gravitate towards certain things.
Playing video games is one of those things.
This can make it challenging to get them outside and engaged in active play.
Both the Laser X blasters and the All Pro Passer fit that need.
But they were not met with the same enthusiasm.
Favorite Item
Our hands-down favorite item is the Laser X Long Range Blaster Set. We’ve tested other products from that line and always enjoy the active play that ensues.
He roped one of his brothers to play in the backyard using them after we’d tried having a stand-off. I attribute this to the appeal of laser tag across many age groups.
Second Favorite Item
I was really hoping my son would enjoy the All Pro Passer more than he did.
The combination of homeschooling and traveling for years meant he never joined team sports. Our new home doesn’t have many options for homeschoolers without a lot of travel, so we do what we can at home.
The concept of this robotic device is solid. We just haven’t mastered it yet.
Pumping takes a LONG time for us and never gets the dial to move up.
That could be user error influenced, so I hope to test it out with some of the other kids from our local homeschool group soon.
The Item He wanted to Love
Finally, the Room Guardian is a neat idea.
All of my boys have enjoyed the idea of spy gear.
And I know several tweens and teens that want to protect their room.
However, the loud sounds made by this device had my husband veto having this stay in the house.
