TOS Crew Review: A Journey Through Learning
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Almost 2 years ago, I was first introduced to lapbooking. Being a bit artsy and crafty inclined, this way to record what the boys are learning really appealed to me. We started with a few lapbook products that were offered as samples or freebies and the boys responded positively to this new way of learning.
Seeing A Journey Through Learning on the list of vendors for this year’s TOS Crew had me a tad excited.
This company is a bit newer in the world of lapbooking and I was eager to test out one of their products to see how it compared to others we have used.
Each TOS Crew member chosen for this review was sent 5 different lapbook project pack ebooks with the request to choose one for review. After some discussion and voting, the older boys chose to do complete the one on reptiles.

However, they did balk at doing the cutting and compilation of the mini-books. I suppose this is from my ‘spoiling’ them by doing that work for previous lapbooks we made. So, the mini-books sat in a folder for almost 2 weeks before I gave in and started putting them together.
Overall, they enjoyed the study with some library books and short videos added in. The only issue (aside from not wanting to cut everything out) was that the pages were not numbered. So, they quickly got out of order which had me opening up the ebook most days to help them coordinate everything.
R already has his eye on one of the other lapbooks sent to us ~ The Desert ~ for a future study. With the need for more work they can do independently of mom come early November, this might just be on the docket for them as we take a break from some of our regular studies. I do know from past experience that they enjoy re-reading through the lapbooks. This isn’t something I see them doing with workbook pages, and I am always pleased to see learning reinforced without my suggesting it.
There are several other lapbook products available from A Journey Through Learning as well as unit studies (which have background information to read, activities to do, and worksheet pages to complete.) You can purchase the reptile lapbook in ebook format, ebook on CD , or in printed format.
If you sign up for their newsletter, you receive An Overview of the 17th Century lapbook for FREE as a download. What a great way to give this new company and lapbooking a chance!
