The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck

I’ve decided the every so often I need a romance type novel in my life.  I just don’t want one that is trashy and has a cover that needs to be hidden from prying eyes.

 

The Wedding Dress fits that bill for me.  The characters are appealing and there are no intense sex scenes to offend my Christian sensibilities.  Bouncing around the stories of the different women connected to the wedding dress is done in such a manner that it flows well rather than seeming disjointed.  And, as a Christian romance novel, the characters are looking towards God at different times in their lives.

 

I also have to admit that I love how the wedding dress serves as an anchor point for each story being told.  Reading through an early chapter where Charlotte is helping a bride to be select her perfect dress had me reminiscing over my own preparations for marriage.  The desire to feel special and look wonderful for your groom is such a universal aspect of being betrothed and Ms. Hauck does a wonderful job capturing that aspect.  Additionally, she paints a realistic point of view of a woman having mixed feelings about a choice that is life altering.
