I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I’m a book lover through and through.  I won’t apologize for that fact, although there are days when the stacks of dusty books around the house has me wondering if I need to reign it in a bit.  Cookbooks are one of my favorite nonfiction genres.  Coupling my love of cookbooks with the ability to practice hospitality a bit more (even if it is just my family most of the time) is what drove me to review The Loving Kitchen by LeeAnn Rice.

Bringing Southern Hospitality to Your Home

About The Loving Kitchen

The Loving Kitchen is a collection of comforting recipes straight from the kitchen of popular food blogger LeAnn Rice.

You know the feeling you get when you’re an overnight guest in someone’s home, and you awaken to a hot-off-the-griddle breakfast? Or when a coworker brings in a pan of her famous brownies to celebrate your recent promotion? Doesn’t it feel great when dinner at the neighbors’ house includes multiple courses of scratch-made recipes and conversation that lingers beyond dessert and that last cup of coffee?

For many of us, these are the moments in which we feel most loved. That’s the idea behind The Loving Kitchen. Get your family’s day started right with LeAnn’s fluffy Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, or a bowl of Almond Coconut Granola and yogurt. Keep your favorite sports fans fueled through the entire game with hearty servings of Hot Sausage and Spinach Dip, or toss together a Grilled Chicken and Berry Salad for lunch with your dearest girlfriends.

Want a signature dinner you can serve on those special occasions? Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with Orange Cranberry Glaze with Creamy Smashed Baby Potatoes is the perfect meal to celebrate a milestone. LeAnn’s sunny narrative and ideas for bringing people together will remind you that the best meal you’ll ever cook is the one you prepare as an act of love.

My Thoughts on The Loving Kitchen

I was given a digital copy of this title, so I used the iPad to do my flipping through.  While I tend to prefer print copies of a cookbook, the larger screen size of the iPad made it easy enough to use digital.

This is a wonderful resource which melds stories with recipes.  My biggest challenge has been incorporating some of the dishes into our family’s rotation.  The recipes themselves are quite manageable, the bigger obstacle is picking which ones I most want to make.

The section I enjoyed the absolute most is the “Reaching Out and Gathering In.”  Here you’ll find ideas to have you reaching out to others (hospitality which we should all have) and gathering together with those you love.  Our family is blessed to eat dinner together pretty much every night of the week.   I do like her suggestion of adopting mealtime traditions like Taco Tuesday (my 11 year old would be all over that one!) or Pizza and Movie Night for Fridays.

What is one of your favorite ‘home cooking’ dishes that you love to share with others?
