The Case for Heaven
Years ago, Lee Strobel wrote a book called The Case for Christ. Now he is back with the new book, The Case for Heaven, and a complimentary documentary that will be airing exclusively on PureFlix.
Let me start by saying that I know of Lee Strobel and his famous book. My husband even has a copy in the house. But, I never felt compelled to read it.
After watching the new documentary/movie The Case for Heaven, I feel the desire to read through his earlier work.

My Thoughts On the Documentary
I enjoyed listening to the various interviews that included best-selling author John Burke, world-renowned pastor Francis Chan, the late Evangelist Luis Palau, and others. Not everyone interviewed held firm to a Christian belief.
One of the interviews that stuck out for me was with Howard Storm, he was a professor with a great life as well as an atheist.
During his near-death experience in a French hospital, he entered a “dank, dark hallway” where individuals became increasingly violent. A voice told him to pray. He responded he didn’t know how. After a second call to prayer, he suddenly remembered the song “Jesus Loves Me” when was a child. When he asked Jesus to save him, a light appeared and he was brought back to life.
The experience changed his life and sent him on a new path away from academia.
His story is just one of the near-death experiences discussed.
There are also people who talk about their path to Christ. Or, in the case of Jon Steingard a former Hawk Nelson band member, someone who went from believer to atheist/agnostic.
After watching the nearly two-hour documentary/movie, I felt a bit inspired to consider my own beliefs and views of death and what comes after.
And that call to consider life, death, and what comes after death is a good end result of viewing this selection.
Who is The Case for Heaven for?
While anyone curious about the new book can watch this documentary, I do not think all audiences will find it compelling. I did not take serious issues with much of the material presented in this piece.
I’ve heard stories of near-death experiences and have had my own otherworldly experiences that have solidified my belief in things beyond our world or beyond what we can see.
If someone watching this show does not have a belief in Christ or the idea of heaven, then they will say there is not enough proof to sway their belief. They may not even get through the whole production.
If someone is strong in their faith, then the show will most likely confirm much of what they believe.
The audience that I think may benefit the most from the production are those with lukewarm faith. Or those who are questioning what they believe or have been raised to believe.
