It’s here! Time for the fourth day of the 5 Day Preparing for the Holiday Themed Blog Hop with the Schoolhouse Review Crew…
Today’s focus is on arts & crafts.
Crafts to Decorate
Every few years, we make an Advent Chain to help the younger boys count down the days until Christmas. It can be as simple as red and green strips of construction paper cut to make the chains. You can number each strip to further engrain how many days until Christmas arrives. I found a printable Advent Chain for 2012 with an activity per day over at Catholic Toolbox that I plan to use this year.
I’ve also enjoyed making ornaments and cards, both of which can be easy to do with a kit.
What self-respecting child doesn’t enjoy making something that they can turn around and devour? Or, maybe it is just my boys?
A perennial favorite for us is a graham cracker ‘gingerbread’ house. Icing of your choice ‘glues’ everything together and the decorative touches can be different candies like peppermints.
Check out some of the creations from past years.
Another fun edible craft that D made in a craft co-op class was an edible mouse. A chocolate kiss, a chocolate covered cherry and some almond slices dipped in chocolate is what they used. How cute is that?
What crafts have you made in the past or plan to make for the holidays?
