Science in the Library ~ Wild Cats

I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

The first session in February was about wild cats. For whatever reason, D ended up being the ONLY child in attendance that week.  So, he had more attention than usual.

We talked about the different markings for some of the major wild cats.  After coloring a page with them, we played a matching game to pair the cat name with the markings.

We then talked about the sizes of the different cats as well as where they are primarily found.

Then, the instructor laid out the cat’s body lengths on the floor so we could compare our length with theirs.  Theirs did include tails.

Finally, we had the chance to make a diorama with a few cats amid grass and trees.  D did not finish his as we had to get to the dentist.  But, I loved the cereal box cut outs she used for the base. And, I plan to make a pattern from the one he brought home for future use.
