Science in the Library ~ Even-Toed Ungulates
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
It’s been a few weeks since I wrote up anything from this spring’s series of programs at our local library. Sadly, the boys have lost most of their enthusiasm for this series as most weeks have no other kids in attendance. That is something that I feel is a real shame given all the volunteer mother has done to offer the program.
Before D decided he was ready for a nap, the boys did some card sorting to see which animals could be grouped together. This time we were learning about even toed ungulates.
After trying their hand at self-sorting, we went through a discussion and resorted into groupings (e.g. deer and elk together.)
The activity they enjoyed the most was a ‘game’ using a game board we colored in ourselves. Each color represented a different kind of animal and the colored squares corresponded to forest areas. The smaller animals could enter into the brush and hide while the larger animals (including those HUNTING the animals) could not go in more than one square from an open area.
