Pampering Ourselves with a Spa at Home Party
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Alaska is known for it’s long, cold winters. In our family, we (half) jokingly say that winter lasts about 7 months and even the summer can be on the cool side. Cold weather means drier homes and outdoor climates. That nets us some seriously dry skin for a larger portion of the year. There are days when a bath in lotion sounds like a good idea to tackle the dry skin epidemic!
That might be a thing of the past now that I’ve discovered NIVEA’s Essentially Enriched Lotion, available in bulk at Sam’s Club. (You can see the whole shopping trip and party in my NIVEA Spa Party Google + album.)
What better way to share my discovery than with a pampering spa themed get together with friends! Food, friend, fun and a little de-stressing through activities that pamper ourselves makes for a wonderful mix. And, we’d help to banish that dry skin, too!
With somewhat slick roads, some of my friends opted to not drive up the hill to our house for in person fun. However, my one friend that braved the Alaskan roads and I had a blast both pampering our skin and enjoying each other’s company.
We made a wonderful pumpkin pie spice sugar scrub to exfoliate our skin. It only took a few minutes to combine the sugars, spice and oil and then we headed to the bathroom for our pampering fun.
Following up the exfoliation with the scrub, we let our skin soak in the NIVEA lotion. After a few minutes, we were left with super soft hands and no greasy residue. NIVEA has a distinctive smell, but it is not overpowering to offset the wonderful smell of pumpkin pie spice.
Wonder how effective NIVEA lotion truly is? The bottle claims up to 24 hour protection and my hands were still silky smooth feeling the next afternoon. Considering how many times I wash my hands each day, even I am amazed at how well it works.
Of course, we had to treat ourselves to a little indulgence along with some healthier food options. And, we enjoyed plenty of great conversation about topics such as healthy living, changes in life, and homeschooling.
My preschooler couldn’t help but come join us for some of the fun, too. He wasn’t sure what to make of the sugar scrub, but he had no problem digging into the food!
Seeing how easy it was to whip up the sugar scrub and the great value in the NIVEA lotion, I think I’ve found the perfect solution for holiday gifts…. pampering hands kits! I sent my girlfriend home with her own set, although I plan to purchase small mason jars for the scrub for future gifting.

What a fun way to spend time together! Although the weather doesn’t get as bitter, I’m certain, in Michigan, we are known to have some very chilly temperatures which is rough on the skin! I love a long, luxurious bath but that can compound the problem. Having the right lotion and pampering products is a tremendous benefit. Thanks so much for sharing your fun 🙂
Terri,
You are so right that a good lotion, like NIVEA, can make a world of difference in your skin.
That scrub sounds great but that cheesecake looks better…. oh wait not supposed to eat the pumpkin scrub 😛
Sounds like you had a great party! I love Nivea lotion!
Kas
I am going to pamper myself this weekend by getting my eyebrows done by a “brow specialist.” I can’t wait!
I love Nivea! Thank you for sharing your pampering techniques!
You’re welcome for the pampering share!
How fun! Huge fan of Nivea because it’s one of the few lotions I can use in the mornings and know that my skin will still be soft and smooth by the time I get through the day.
I love the idea of the pampering kits for holiday gifts! Thanks for the idea 🙂
You’re welcome for the pampering kit idea, Michelle. I’m loving the NIVEA.
I have terribly dry skin that’s flaking as the weather gets colder. I’m going to try this out – I’m desperate for a “fix”!
I hope it works as well for you as it has for me, Amber.
Wow! I need to give this a try. I have alligator skin going on right now.
Melissa,
That’s something I hope to permanently banish using NIVEA. It was more than 24 hours of soft skin post scrub and NIVEA lotion which is amazing.
Looks like fun to me! Everyone needs a little pampering!
It was fun, Ellen. And, I completely agree that we all need a little pampering!
I don’t pamper myself often. When I do it’s with a nice long bubble bath.
As for Nivea- I need to look into them, they look like a good company.
I love bubble baths, but rarely have that much time with a little one still in the house.
