Getting and staying organized can be a challenge at times. A long, long time ago when I was a young, single student, I was MUCH more organized. But with our family of six, things can get crazy. Papers are all over the house at times and it is easy for something to get lost.
The start of a new school year is the perfect time for me to learn how to get organized. I was excited to have the chance to test out the the online resource, About One. The site promises to help organize the major areas of your life and show you how to declutter as well.
Getting started is simple. Once your account is created, you input family members. Then, you can start putting in specific information.
Categories for organizing your life include
- education information (e.g. school name and contact information)
- address book (store all contact information in one place)
- health profiles (including insurance information and doctors)
- possessions (e.g. house and vehicles)
You can also create forms like a babysitter instruction sheet or keep track of vehicle maintenance. Or, you can help the kids track their volunteers hours. All in ONE tidy spot that is accessible from any computer you use.
Considering we have to document different things for our homeschool charter, some of these pages will get a real workout (e.g. the volunteer hours one!)
There’s a nice view of all your family members you can see and then click into each specific family member’s page.
I’ve only scratched the surface of entering information onto About One. But, having spent hours of time searching for a relative’s address or that piece of paper tracking vital information, I am relieved to have a one stop place for it now. It’s a digital filing system and more!
Once I have had the chance to put in more information, I hope to explore the ability to create a family newsletter or digital scrapbook as seen below.
About One has a 17 day free trial that you can do to see if the resource is right for your family. The 17 day Free Passport gives you 17 full days of usage with no expiration date (requires no credit card information). Use each of your 17 days whenever you like. Their Yearly Plan gives you a full year of access to AboutOne for the low price of $30 per year.
