Holy Saturday 2014

I have to admit that yesterday was not my typical Good Friday.  The weather was fantastic, but I didn’t go to the outdoor Stations walk in Anchorage.  Instead, I was inside, in downtown Anchorage, sitting in on different talks and chatting with both vendors and homeschoolers at the second day of our annual curriculum fair.  When I’d seen the fair was on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, I had to take it in prayer about where to spend my time.  As I was hitting a real low point in motivation for homeschooling, the curriculum fair won.  And, I’m really glad that I did go for both days.

Today is already half done.  Unlike other days during Holy Week, I feel like Holy Saturday is a day of transition and preparation.  We’ve walked through the Crucifixion and now away Easter morning to celebrate His Resurrection.  While awaiting this most festive day, we are also preparing food for a feast.

At our parish, we had the youth group come help clean the church.  It’s amazing how much can be done by 25 teens in just over an hour!  While they were cleaning, several families came to have their food for Easter Sunday blessed.  I love the idea of this tradition, but admit I couldn’t get my act together to bring anything with me.

For the rest of the day, I will be doing some much neglected work (both around the house and blog related work) as well as taking time to enjoy life with my family.  Hubby and I will be running errands during that time to get a few goodies for the boys’ Easter baskets as well.  And through the business, I will be eagerly awaiting the joyful celebration which will occur at Mass.
