Final Stretch (Holy Week) for 40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2015

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week, and also the last week for this year’s 40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2015 for submitting links. I have loved having the chance to share part of my personal faith journey and see what other Christian bloggers are doing. I will do a final post on Easter Monday to showcase the most visited post(s) and some of my personal favorites.

I can definitely say that my faith journey has been interesting this year. I should have known better than to plan something just to find God had other things in store for me. It hasn’t been pretty, but I am hopeful to see the fruits of the journey down the line.  

Looking Back at the Past Week for 40 Days of Seeking Him

Just like I did with the link up this past Advent, I am going to share the most visited post (or posts if there is a tie for click throughs) as well as a personal favorite or two from the previous week’s link up. 

The most visited post this week was Thoughts on Cheap Grace and Presumption at Arnobius of Sicca.  The post shares what “cheap grace” is and how it is a real problem in the modern church. The post hits on so many thing I’ve considered in the past. We ARE all sinners and need God’s Grace. However, accepting God’s Grace and professing our belief that Christ is our Lord and Savior is NOT enough. Instead, we are called to be transformed which very well could mean making some serious changes in how we live our life. Does that mean we won’t stumble and fall on the journey towards heaven?  No. And, this particular sinner is very grateful that God is forgiving and provided for the Sacrament of Reconciliation so we can restore our relationship with Him by removing those wedges (sins) which we let drive us further from Him. I particularly like this particular part of the post:

“Saving us from sin was obviously so important, that Our Lord suffered death on a cross to accomplish it. But if we don’t respond to the loving act, then for us He died in vain.”

With so many great submissions, it can be difficult to pick a personal favorite.  If you aren’t clicking through to read all of the posts, you really are missing out!  This past week was a little strange for finding submitted posts as the linkie wasn’t showing all of the posts for a few days. So, I want to share a few of those ‘hidden’ posts in case readers missed seeing them this past week.

Why Be Selfless? Where Does It Get You? at Virginia Lieto starts to tackle the issue of selfishness when our very being longs to be selfish. Christians are called to imitate Christ to the best of our ability, which means we are called to be self-giving (aka selfless) in our daily lives.

The other post that was hidden after submission is  Celebrating Holy Week with Children on Children of the Church.  Nicole has a lot of great ideas for getting the whole family involved in celebrating this special week of the liturgical year.

 

Finally, there was a late entry by Tracy at A Slice of Smith Life which is perfect for this week.Our Family’s Plans for Holy Week 2015 in 7 (Not Really) Quick Takes shares more ideas for celebrating the different days as we are in the final countdown for Easter.
