When the holidays roll around, are there favorite holiday movies that your family always watches?
I have a banker’s box in the house that contains all the Christmas movies and music for the season in our home. Some of the contents do not get pulled out each year while other things are a must.
A few of the ones that we always watch include How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Elf. Then there are the animated shows like Rudolph that my youngest son and I may watch together. Others like It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas get viewed every other year or so.
New Favorite Holiday Movies
Each year movies appear on the big screen or on television to vie for our attention. This coming holiday season has many that we are eager to see as a family.
One that is at the top of the list for me is The Man Who Invented Christmas.
I am a sucker for many of the different versions of A Christmas Carol. If I want something a little on the ‘in your face’ approach, I’ll pop in Scrooged. When I am feeling nostalgic, I’ll find a copy of An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler to watch. But, I always appreciate a classic telling of the story as well.
The Man Who Invented Christmas tells the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol. Directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), the film shows how Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) mixed real-life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.
The Man Who Invented Christmas releases in theaters on November 22, just in time for those who like to get some holiday spirit over Thanksgiving weekend.
