“Summertime and the livin’ is easy….”

Summertime and the Living is easy

So goes the familiar tune by Gershwin which evokes thoughts of lazy days sitting in the warm sunshine with a cold treat in your hand.  Well, unless you are like me and find that biting into a dipped cone or some other wonderfully refreshing treat often repays you with shooting pain from your teeth.  That is NOT the kind of easy living I want to experience in the summertime.  I want those lazy days outdoors, watching the boys play, with the ability to bite into that delicious chocolate covered ice cream concoction and savor it!

I’ve had issues for years with a few molars ending up with both root canals and crowns on top to ‘stop’ the problem. I wish I’d had a solution for the years of suffering before needing the more extreme dental work.  Even though those few molars have been taken care of for sensitivity, I still have moderate problems with my front teeth.  Of course, it is usually noticeable when I make that initial bite into a cone of ice cream. My solution has (almost) always been to just pass by those beloved treats and have frozen items that can be eaten with a spoon.  After all, my sensitive teeth seemed to be winning the battle.

Seeking Long-Lasting Relief from Sensitivity Battle of Sensitive Teeth Versus Warm Weather Treats

With summer quickly approaching and thoughts of cool, refreshing frozen desserts on my mind, I decided it was time to find an option that worked for me without the need to spend hours at the dentist or drain my savings account in the process.  I wanted long-lasting relief from sensitivity in my front teeth in a way that had me acting proactively to protect my smile.

I heard about the new Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush and Sensitivity Pen and visited our local Fred Meyer (Kroger branded store) to pick up one to put to the test.  Some Kroger branded stores are offering a coupon towards your purchase of the product (just check the web page for your store to find it.)

Why did I want to try the Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush and Sensitivity Pen to find long-lasting relief from sensitivity?

The Actis Enamel Pen blocks sensitivity at the source of pain. Simply: Brush, Apply, Go.

You can’t get more convenient or simpler than that!  Plus, continued usage allows a new barrier to build up over time so that your teeth will be less sensitive.  I found the whole process to be simple.  Brush your teeth (the supplied toothbrush is made especially for sensitive teeth with extra soft bristles) and then apply some of the paste form the Actis Enamel Pen where your sensitive spots are and rub it in.  No need to wipe it off, just let it sit for a while before eating. I did this in the morning after breakfast and then again at night before bed.

After 3 days of doing this, I was ready to put it to the test by biting into a chocolate dipped cone.

Seeking Long-Lasting Relief from Sensitivity: Battle of Sensitive Teeth Versus Warm Weather Treats

Even though it might seem cold to others, we had a balmy 50 some degrees the other day here in Alaska.  There have been summers where that’s typical weather, so with the sun shining I was craving a warm weather treat.  It was the perfect time to put this new product to the test!

While I might have been smiling before taking that bite, I have to admit that I was a little bit nervous that the all too familiar shooting pain would be there to greet me upon my initial bite.

I shouldn’t have been apprehensive as my bite into the cone only gave me a wonderful burst of creamy goodness.  So, I am definitely declaring the Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush and Sensitivity Pen to be the winner in the battle between sensitive teeth and cold summertime treats!!

    1. Jenn,

This goes beyond their toothpaste as a second step in the process. My husband has some relief with just the toothpaste, but I think this might make a BIG improvement for him.
