Welcome to the 3rd Sunday in Advent, also known as Gaudete Sunday in the Catholic Church. Why a special name? “The term Gaudete refers to the first word of the Entrance Antiphon, “Rejoice”. Rose vestments are worn to emphasize our joy that Christmas is near, and we also light the rose candle on our Advent wreath.” (from Catholic Culture.)
The Gospel reading (JN 1:6-8, 19-28)reminds us of John the Baptist heralding the coming of Christ. And, our music selections included both O Come, O Come Emmanuel as well as music based on the Gospel reading.
A Voice Cries Out by Michael Joncas continues to be one of my favorite music selections for that Gospel reading. Here’s a more recent performance of it is since I initially shared a few years back.
Another one that was done yesterday is Ready the Way by Bob Hurd. I like this version I found with lyrics shown, but admit that I miss the piano which the Saturday evening Mass choir has in abundance at our parish.
This year I’ve decided to share a few posts from the previous week’s link up. I’m going to share the most visited post and a personal favorite (or two.)
The most visited post spot was tied this week.
No Mess Straw for Sock Baby Jesus at Arma Dei: Equipping Catholic Families would be a great craft for mom or an older child to make and then use with the younger kids. It reminds me of the cigar box manger that R was given at CCD in 1st grade which I think was lost in a move.
The other most visited post was Christmas Candle Scriptures landing page. If you haven’t visited Erin’s series for Advent, I highly recommend it.
One that caught my attention, but not much in the way of clicks from the linky is Our Jesse Tree Traditions + Everything You Need to Start Your Own! at Campfires and Cleats. I’ve wanted to do a Jesse Tree with the boys for years, but never seem to get my ducks in a row for it to happen.
How are your Advent plans going?

You are more than welcome to link up to more than one post each week if you’ve written multiple posts on the topic of Advent and growing closer to Christ.
