40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2012 ~ Ministering Others Through Daily Tasks

I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Yesterday morning, I attended the MOMS group at our parish.  The focus for this week was everyday spirituality as a whole person.  This encompassed the areas of physical, emotional, commitment, intellectual, and interpersonal aspects of our life. I was quite challenged when preparing for the session to come up with what part of my body (the physical self) I like the most.  While I do not have dreams of ever looking like the ‘perfect’ image society projects, I still have hangups when it comes to my body.

But, I found a part that I do like…

my eyes!

Why?  I like my eyes because they are basically a window to my soul and I like to think that the whole me has value.

Pulling beyond the fact that our bodies are sacred (temples of the Holy Spirit, don’t ya’ know!), it is through the compilation of all that we form the Body of Christ.  (Yes, I can’t get away from that theme these days!) Reflecting upon how even as a mom I am ministering to others (aka the boys), I can’t help but reflect upon HOW I am part of the body of Christ.

Last night we had a short presentation on some of the doctors of the Catholic Church.  One of the saints discussed was St. Therese of Lisieux.

 St. Therese of Lisieux

I’ve always loved how she found ways to serve Christ through what others might deem lowly tasks.  And, it fit so well with the idea of motherhood as a ministry.  We are serving Christ when washing the dishes or comforting an injured child!

Comfort in Thought

How have you ministered to another in a ‘little way’ today?

This year, I am joining Trish @ A House Upon the Rock in co-hosting the 40 Days of Seeking Him meme.  The linky will be up each week so you can add in posts daily, weekly, or whenever you are able.

The posts can be about anything related to Lent and preparing for Easter ~ crafts, food, devotions, music or reflections are all welcomed.

I hope you will join us on this journey as we prepare our hearts to receive the wonderful gift of salvation we’ve been given through Jesus’ death and resurrection.
