40 Days of Seeking Him 2011 ~ Day 7
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

One way that we can do all three as a family is to utilize the rice bowl we received at church last Sunday.
By praying for the people served by Catholic Relief Services and other similar organizations, we can fulfill all three themes as a family sitting around the dinner table.
I have already been moving the family towards more dishes with beans and other protein sources in part because meat can be quite expensive up here. (The joke among some of my friends is that produce is often half rotten when it arrives at the store and meat seems different as it is usually shipped up here frozen.)
While I doubt participation in this practice will have life altering results with my boys, I can hope that they will become more sensitive to those in need. We are so incredibly blessed and at times seem to forget how much we do have. Unfortunately, our sinful nature kicks in when we see all the ‘things’ others have and we want.

I am following you (suelee1998) from the blog hop, you have a great site. Would you please follow me back? http://susansdisneyfamily.blogspot.com/thank you 🙂
Our church did something similar when I was growing up.I do think that even in what seems like little efforts still have an impact in their lives.Blessings,Trishwww.ahouseupontherock.com
I can remember the rice bowl from when I was younger, and it's a tradition I still love. I think the boys get it a little bit. They wanted to watch a show this weekend about a multimillionaire who went to Detroit, lived among the people in desperate poverty, and donated money to various organizations who were working to make the community better or safer. For days now, they have been talking about the show. Seeing "almsgiving" in action really inspired them.
