Entertain and Educate through Bible Stories with Superbook
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
I am thrilled to be sharing with everyone about Superbook, Christian Stories for Kids, coming to ABC Family the first week of July as part of a promotional program with CBN and MomSelect. Our family received a set of Superbook DVDs to help spread the word.
Do your kids love to watch TV? As much as I try to curb their ‘screen time’, there are times when I need or want them to be entertained via the screen. All the better is when there’s a positive message to be learned through whatever program they are watching. We’ve got a new one in the house to enjoy and your family can, too, thanks to Superbook airing on ABC Family.
About Superbook
Superbook was originally launched as an outreach by The Christian Broadcasting Network in Japan back in 1981. It’s success was phenomenal as kids responded to the anime style of Bible-based adventures. The original episodes have been given a new 3-D animation to give it more appeal to the current child.
Superbook teaches children in every language and culture timeless moral truths and life lessons through the captivating, Bible-based adventures of two time-traveling children and their robot friend. The familiar and the futuristic interact with ancient people, places and events to create a sense of wonder, anticipation, empowerment, and personal breakthrough as the children witness God’s interaction with man.
Superbook is always an exciting journey, full of discovery – with a transformational outcome.
Our Thoughts on Superbook
My older boys pretty much steered clear of this as it seems a bit ‘young’ for them. However, D and J have loved each and every episode we were sent for review.
I recently asked them to share which episode was their favorite. I knew J was going to tell me A Giant Adventure was his favorite as he’s now constantly talking about David being so mighty because of God so he could take down the giant. Here they are ‘modeling’ for me with the selected DVDs in hand:
The majority of Superbook episodes available right now are Old Testament based.
We were sent 14 of the 16 that are currently out.
When it comes to watching shows, my guys gravitate towards cartoons. I am all for them watching Superbook compared to other options out there.
The only ‘negative’ is that J found the images of Lucifer / Satan a bit disturbing. However, he’s not getting nightmares from this series like he was for a few other ‘scary’ shows.
Purchasing This Bible Story Series
Right now, you can only purchase copies of Superbook through The Christian Broadcasting Network.
Signing up for the Superbook DVD club provides you with 3 copies of the current DVD (The Fiery Furnace!) So, you can share one with a friend, your church, or as a way to evangelize.
Future episodes are shipped out each 4 to 6 weeks with the same $25 charge applied. Past releases can be added onto your order for $25 each. You can purchase episodes at the $25 donation level per episode without joining the Club, too.
According to their website, “your tax-deductible gift will also help produce future Superbook episodes and bring the Word of God to children around the world in over 30 languages.”
Superbook has DVD Discussion Guides available on line. This could be a fun way to expand your Bible studies in your home or at your church.
