Wee Believers ~ Awesome Products for Catholic (and Christian) Children

I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

While there are many options in the marketplace now for Christian products for kids, there hasn’t been a lot of options for Catholic kids where they can play and enhance their faith in the process.

Wee Believers is changing that!

Our family received a box filled with a few different products from Wee Believers to review and from the get go they have been well received by my boys and other children we’ve had using the products.

J was beyond ecstatic peeking inside the big box that arrived at our house.

Here’s a bit about each item….

Wee Artist Color & Hugs™ Coloring Mats

We were sent the Saint Francis coloring mat.  It is double sided with Saint Francis on one side and the “Tree of Life” on the other.  A set of short markers comes with the mat.

Aside from the ‘cute’ factor, what I truly love is that the mat can be reused with just a little washing action.  Checking with the company, I could replace the markers with washable ones from the store or order replacements from them as they are specially formulated to work in concert with the mat.

The first time I washed the mat for reuse, J did not let it fully dry before coloring again.  We discovered that the slightly damp mat created a watercolor effect, but otherwise performed beautifully.

This is rated as a quiet item and we’ve brought it with us to Mass for a few weeks to give J something to do that does not involve ransacking my purse.

Wood Lacing Toys

These are NOT ‘quiet certified’ like the coloring mat.  But, they are high quality and engage the kids with their fine motor skills.  I wasn’t sure how J would take to them given he’s only 2.  However, he is loving this ‘toy’ with assistance from an older sibling or parent.  I love the quality and how the images tie in with different aspects of our faith.  On the back of each is a Scripture verse, too.

When I brought these with us to our Catholic homeschool co-op, I found them to be the BIG hit with the preschoolers.  Most had not seen a lace-up toy and were really enthralled with it.

I also saw first hand why I would think twice before bringing them to Mass to occupy J.  One of the other boys there decided that after each stitch he made he needed to run around the room with it dragging behind him.  Several of the other kids joining in on the ‘game’ leaving me to envision preschool kids running down the aisle at church with the lacing toy tagging behind them.

Vocation Dolls™ ~ Father Juan Pablo

I can’t say what prompted me to put this on my list of items we’d consider reviewing.  My older boys looked at me as if I’d lost all semblance of sanity.  After all, they are BOYS and this is a ‘doll.’

Well, the Holy Spirit must have been prompting me that day as not only do I think it is a wonderful ‘toy’, but J is in love with Father Pablo!

In the photo above, you might notice something green on Father Pablo’s hand.  This is his Mass kit which has pictures of everything you’d find in a priest’s Mass kit.  My older boys thought this was a made up thing, but I know that is because they’ve had little occasion to see a priest with a Mass kit in tow.  (They did at a Mass held in a fellow homeschooler’s home back in Delaware, but they’d forgotten all about it.)

Along with being adorable, Father Pablo comes with a laminated, spiral-bound book that talks about the priesthood along with stories of real priests.  This aspect is not being used by me with J, but the older boys are taking turns reading.  And, Father Pablo is found around the house watching J eat dinner or even joining him in his crib for the night.  What hasn’t happened is having Father Pablo join us at Mass.  One day soon, I suspect that will happen!

Overall, we are beyond thrilled with the products from Wee Believers and I suspect more will be on J’s wish list for the future.  While some of their products, like the Vocation Dolls, are definitely geared for Catholics, many of their products would work in any Christian household.

    1. constantly i used to read smaller articles or reviews which as well clear
their motive, and that is also happening with this post
which I am reading at this place.

  1. WOW! I really like their stuff, so I am a tad jealous.

They started as the company that produced the “Play Mass Kit” that I think is just awesome.
It is a tad pricey, which is why I dont have one yet… but maybe one day I will have a super blog like yours and they will have me promote it 🙂

What was the interaction like with the boys and the Priest Doll/?
I really like the idea of having playful toys around that other kids (From other families) will interact with, that are unapologetically Catholic.

Glad to see this review! Glad to see you liked them!

    1. Joseph,

I am still eyeing up that play Mass kit. I love that it is soft and preschool friendly. Someday it may make an appearance in my home.

The boys have really warmed up to Father Pablo. I really wasn’t sure how he’d be received. But, J adores him and the older boys don’t see it as ‘girly’ anymore.

As for the super blog thing, I’ll take it as a compliment. The blog has definitely grown this past year and I hope to see continued growth in the future. But, more importantly, I hope I can bring some great reviews and reflections to my readers.
