40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2016 Week 1

I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Here we are just 5 days into Lent and I already am feeling like I have missed the mark on some of my expectations. Good thing God only asks that we start anew each day. That means I am brushing off my ‘failure’ to do all that I envisioned, praying over whether I’m trying to be a Lenten overachiever with so many things on my plate, and then setting my sights back on the goal of growing in relationship with Christ.

Remember that building a relationship with Jesus is the focus of Lent rather than ticking off items on a to do list.

I’m sticking pretty well to my eating plan and made it through the 3 Day Refresh without caving. And, I felt a LOT better after those 3 days of eating vegan.  No dairy in almost a week has me seeing clearer skin than I have seen in a while. I suppose the upside to all this is finding what things need to be rare indulgences and what needs to be my regular diet for health. After all, I am the one responsible for this Temple of the Holy Spirit.

I am very appreciative to those who linked up this past week.  I hope to see more posts submitted over the next few weeks so we can all be encouragers to others on the journey.

As promised, I am going to share the most visited post for last week.

The Not So Perfect Catholic Ash Wednesday

Mary over at the Not-So-Perfect-Catholic shared her post on Ash Wednesday.  I love using Instagram and need to mark my calendar with the different Instagram challenges she shared about in the post.

Lent for Protestant Families

One post that I liked reading was Lent for Protestant Families by Tara over at Minivan Ministries.  She did a lovely summary of what Lent is and offered a few suggestions.  This post really sums up what Trish and I share as a vision for the 40 Days of Seeking Him series: sharing the journey so that all Christians might grow in their relationship with Christ.  Advent and Lent both provide a time to be more set apart from the everyday and place more focus upon it.

Top Posts for the Ash Wednesday 2016 Link Up and a New week of sharing in the 40 Days of Seeking Him Lent 2016 series.

40 Days of Seeking Him LentThis year, I am joining Trish @ A House Upon the Rock in co-hosting the 40 Days of Seeking Him meme. The linky will be up each week so you can add in posts daily, weekly, or whenever you are able. The posts can be about anything related to Lent and preparing for Easter ~ crafts, food, devotions, music or reflections are all welcomed. I hope that my readers will join us on the journey through Lent as we seek to grow closer to Christ. Christian bloggers are welcome to join us in the weekly link up with posts that they are writing to showcase activities or reflections taken during this Lenten journey.

We are expanding the platform for this meme to include a 40 Days of Seeking Him Pinterest board for submitted posts and a Facebook group.  I hope that you’ll check out the Pinterest board and join us on Facebook, too, as we seek to grow closer to Christ.
