40 Days of Seeking Him: Advent Week 2 Is Here
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Today is the second Sunday in Advent and time is yet again escaping me. We’ve taken time to put up our Christmas tree with minimal decorations on it (as they boys don’t see the point.) And, the boys are opening up their Star Wars Advent Calendar each night. But, I already am feeling like I’m falling short of my own expectations when it comes to family and personal prayer time.
Good thing I can start each day a new and do my best to accomplish what I have to do. However, I also know that there are times when what I think needs my attention is not what God thinks needs my attention.
Have you ever noticed that there are time when a roadblock or even a simple distraction can seem like it is derailing your plans but in hindsight the new route is really where you belonged? This is something I’ve noticed and ruminate about more these days.
This year I’ve decided to share a few posts from the previous week’s link up. I’m going to share the most visited post and a personal favorite (or two.)
The most visited post was Celebrating St. Nicholas Day in Our Home at Mom Hats and More.
One of my favorites is from His Mercy is New: Do Protestants & Evangelicals Celebrate Advent? Personally, I’d answer that as a resounding YES as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and should be eagerly anticipating Jesus.
And the one that really resonated with me as it is JUST where I am right now is First Week in Advent: Declutter at The Koala Bear Writer. I brought several boxes to donate already, but have another batch that needs to go so I can focus upon more decluttering. After all, it is hard to get things done when chaos reigns around you. (You can see some mess photos from last month and this month I’m doing an update on areas.)
How are your Advent plans going?
Did you remember St. Nicholas yesterday?

You are more than welcome to link up to more than one post each week if you’ve written multiple posts on the topic of Advent and growing closer to Christ.

Hi Laura! I completely can relate to falling short and behind on things during Advent! Thanks for the link-up ! I linked up 3 of my Advent posts so far! 🙂
So right there with you with wanting (needing!) to declutter and organize. Upon a friend’s request, in fact, I started another FB event challenge to keep me going. (It;s at https://www.facebook.com/events/801236229937616/ if you want to join.)
As far as personal prayer and family time go… We all fall short at times, and, at other times, we THINK we are falling short but are not. perhaps the prayer your being called to this year as you prepare for Jesus’ coming past, present and future is simply pausing every time you start feeling “short” to say, “I love you, Jesus, and thank you going the rest of the distance for me.” Or something like that… I’ll be lifting you in prayer! 🙂
