With so many demands in my life, I’ve gotten to really enjoy the nights when I can curl up with a book that entertains while reinforcing concepts I believe in. Safe in His Arms is the latest Christian romance story that I’ve read which continually points the reader to God being our safe place.
About Safe in His Arms:
Sometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Under Texas Stars, Book 2
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O’Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she’s made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life.
But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She’s convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.
So when Margaret’s father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she’s frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she’s downright worried. Daniel swears he’s not involved, but Margaret’s not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets.
But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic “accidents” threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.

My Thoughts about Safe in His Arms
I was blessed to have already read the first title in the Under the Texas Stars Series, Blue Moon Promise. I adore Colleen Colbe’s writing style and how she brings dimension to the characters, creates tension between the love interests, and yet continually points the reader towards our heavenly Father. Safe in His Arms met all of those points and proved to be a wonderful title to read over a few cold winter evenings. Plus, you get to ‘see’ characters from the first book again and how their happily ever after is playing out.
I especially loved the double play on how Margaret felt safe in Daniel’s arms (and could see herself marrying the man) as well as how our heavenly Father is there to keep us safe in His arms. Of course, Margaret has to learn to let go of her need to control things and trust not only other people in her life but that God will provide all that she needs. For many of us, that is a lesson that we have to learn over and over again as the world often tells us that we are in control or to rely on others who do not have the same beliefs as we do to provide our basic needs.
I definitely recommend this (and other titles by Colleen Coble) for any one seeking a clean romance which integrates aspects of Christianity in a historical setting. It was a fun read and includes a group of characters I hope to see again in a future title.
