Music to set the Advent mood

I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

One of the things I absolutely love about Advent is the selection of music that helps focus us on the coming of Christ.

Below are some You Tube videos of some of my favorite hymns.

O Come Diving Messiah is one I love to sing and to play on the piano.  I couldn’t find a sung one on You Tube that I loved and went with one that provides the words in print and just instrumental.

The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns is another more traditional one that I enjoy.

Finally (for today that is!), I found a beautiful instrumental version of Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus.

This post is being linked up to this week’s 40 Days of Seeking Him meme. I hope you enjoyed the music selections and will come back to share more during this season of Advent.

  1. Hi,
I followed the “40 days of seeking Him” meme and came across your post on Advent Music. I love it too, although I wish there was more of it out there! I mentioned a couple of Advent CDs on my blog that my family loves: “We Shall Prepare: An Advent Cantata for Young People” by Mark Friedman and “Like Winter Waiting: The Advent Story” by John Foley S.J. Both include wonderful songs; “We Shall Prepare” is almost like a musical “Jesse Tree” since there are songs about Moses, Noah, Jesse, etc. Here is my blog posting about those two CDS; it includes links to where you can hear samples of the music:

(I am not affiliated with the music publisher in any way; I just love the music so much and like to recommend it to others.)

    Blessings,

    1. Thanks for the lovely comment, Cheryl.

Feel free to link your post on Advent music to the 40 Days of Seeking Him meme. I’ll have to check it out as I’m familiar with John Foley, but not that particular album. Love, love, love liturgical music!
