I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Every year the boys have attended at least one Vacation Bible School in the summer. Some summers they have attended THREE VBS programs. Sometimes I’ve even participated or just stayed to help as needed. Last summer, I was put in charge of music at our parish’s program. By the end of the week, I’d lost 5 pounds from all the wiggling and singing in the heat while enjoying the look of delight on the children’s faces. There is just something about most VBS songs that help to drill in Bible verses or basics of Christian life through the vessel of a catchy tune.
On the scene to help young ones learn their scripture is Bible Story Songs. Members of the TOS Crew received different CDs for review. Our family was given MATTHEW, VOLUME 2 I Want to Be Good Ground covering Chapters 9 – 28.
Always eager to utilize a Christian product, we began our listening. The van is the perfect place for uninterupted listening as we drive down the road. In some ways I can see a strong resemblence of this product to the VBS music. Not all of the songs just jump out and grab you on the first pass. Rather you need multiple exposures to get hooked. Some songs sound familiar as they have set words to familiar music. After a few times listening to some of the songs, the boys are still undecided about how they like it.
The CDs retail for $7.95 to $9.95, depending on the specific title. Matthew Vol. 2, the CD we were sent for review, retails for $9.95. An extension of the Bible Songs CD are song books, sheet music and puzzle books. On the website, you can find lists of the songs for each CD as well as listen to sample tracks.
If your kids enjoy learning to music and you are looking for something to teach them scripture, then this might be the product for you.
