Just the other day, P celebrated his 13th birthday. It’s hard to believe that we now have a teenager in the house, even if some of the moodiness was already here.
Originally, the boys wanted to have dinner out at Sicily’s ‘all you can eat’ buffet for all their birthdays ON P’s birthday. Leave it to hungry boys to think going to an all you can eat pizza place is what their hearts desire.
Instead, he picked red beans and rice for his birthday dinner. It’s one of their favorite dishes and I used up the last of our Camilla red beans making it. The recipe was lifted off All Recipes, with my only tweaks being a use of Creole seasoning instead of Cajun seasoning at half the amount and leaving out the cayenne pepper (as I couldn’t find it in the house.)
Like R, he requested brownies for birthday dessert. I have to agree that the dark chocolate brownies excite my taste buds more than most cakes. (Although the ultra rich chocolate cake at Costco is very good!)
As for a gift from the family, he asked for and received a hydration pack. He’s in love with the ability to carry a bunch of water on his back while hiking and sip as desired.
