Do you know what happens on May 1st this year? Well, if you are a HUGE MARVEL fan like my boys and I, then you know that is the day MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is being released in theaters. We decided to stock up on a few new items in our house as well as snacking options to consume while watching some of the previous movies in anticipation of the new one.
We headed to our local Walmart to not only grab those goodies, but check out what else is new in the Avenger world. There were different food products with Avenger’s branding as well as a nice collection of toys for the younger boys to enjoy. We decided to buy some Dr. Pepper (found in the Soda aisle) and Doritos (found in the main aisle near the soda aisle at our local store.)
My youngest has been trying to convince me he needed a Captain America shield to go with his older “Cap” mask. It is very hard to say no to this cutie!
That’s his second favorite Avenger, coming right behind Hulk who has been his favorite for years. After all, Hulk is green – J’s favorite color – and he smashes things. It is who he wanted to be for Halloween this past year and was over the moon to receive a Hulk costume for his birthday. He put on his best sharing behavior to let another brother be Captain America for some outside play time.
Along with picking up a few new Avengers items, we took a few minutes to grab the Super Heroes Assemble app with loads of content that is unlocked at your local Walmart. You can find the Super Heroes Assemble in both the iTunes and Google Play stores. On my Android powered phone, I had my best luck by searching for Avengers Age of Ultron and then picking the Super Heroes Assemble app. On our iPad, we were able to search the app name and find it no problem.
About the APP: Avengers fans, it’s time to Assemble again. With Super Heroes Assemble, turn your phone into a portal to exclusive MARVEL’s Avengers: The Age of Ultron content. Keep up to date with the latest movie and behind-the-scenes action. Plus, scan Avengers displays at Walmart and Walmart.com to become your favorite Avenger, explore a Hulkbuster training facility in a cool 360 degree interactive space and to bring MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron characters to life with augmented reality.
Some portions of the app are locked or need to be downloaded separate from the initial download. Once you have the app loaded on your device, you can head to a near by Walmart and scan the images as you find them throughout the store. Some of the images that need to be scanned are products while others are signs. There must be another slow boat to Alaska as our local store only had one of the posters up for interacting with the app.
However, you can scan the same images off your computer screen by visiting the special MARVEL’s Avengers: The Age of Ultron page on Walmart’s website. Just scroll down to where it says “Unlock More Epic Content” and you can scroll through the different images needed to unlock everything in your app. With the app opened with the needed image show, just line them up and it will unlock that portion of the app.
Now our family can have fun with all things Avengers as we continue to stoke the excitement about the new movie.
Which Avengers character is your favorite, and why? We want to know!
