Steps of Faith: Finding Purpose in Life is part of a campaign with LEV3L. I was provided with access to a screener copy of the film to facilitate my review.
We all reach a point in our lives when we seek out a purpose for our lives. Sometimes, we go through this process multiple times as we enter new phases of life.
I truly believe that we all are called in this life. We just need to rely on faith and God to find that purpose He has in mind for us.
That’s one of the main themes running through the movie, Steps of Faith.
About Steps of Faith: Finding Purpose in Life
Steps of Faith is a light-heart dramedy about Faith Houston an accountant, who is directed by God to move to a small town to work on a Hippotherapy farm helping children.
Faith is mocked by her family since she doesn’t have a rapport with children or animals and is not a devout Christian.
Faith decides to follow her heart and move after she encounters several challenges.
She finds herself at the farm in the horse stalls shoveling manure. Faith cracks under pressure and leaves after a child is almost injured questioning whether she heard God’s voice or not.
Steps of Faith is available NOW on DVD.

My Thoughts on Steps of Faith: Finding Purpose in Life
Overall, I enjoyed this movie. Three themes run throughout this film: Purpose, Faith, and Relationship.
When we meet Faith Houston at the start of the film, it is obvious that she is unsettled in her current position. There are things that she struggles with (esp. animals and children.) Yet, she receives a message from God that she is called to go to Steps of Faith, a hippotherapy farm hours from her home in Texas.
This calling asks her to step out in faith, trusting God to get her where she needs to be. Through this act of faith, she hopes to find fulfillment as she finds purpose in her life.
The road isn’t easy. Leaving all you know behind and starting a new journey never is.
What Faith will ultimately find is not only purpose in her life, but a relationship that will forever change her life.
Beyond the overall message which applies to ALL, something unique about this film is that the majority of the cast is black. Sadly, a lot of Christian based films do have nearly all-white casts. While I do not see it as being a form of racism, it is refreshing to see a film which shows how diverse our world is. (You can see the awards won by the film, including several for black film festivals.)
