For years now, when November hits I start thinking about writing a family letter. You know… the ‘here’s all the good things our family has done this past year’ letter that sometimes seems rather close to a brag fest.
Once written and printed out on holiday design paper, the family letter then gets stuffed into a Christmas (or holiday) card to make its way to friends and family members across the country. Typically, we include a photo of either just the boys or the whole family. However, I have sometimes felt like the quickly printed photo was more of an afterthought rather than a true design element for our greetings.
This year I am hoping to get a jump on my holiday mailing and order up some cards from Shutterfly. My biggest challenge might be choosing which photo card design I want to use. With over 700 options, the choice is a bit daunting.
However, I am leaning towards a a design that allows for multiple pictures on one card. With four boys and so many photos taken during the year, choosing just one picture gets a bit challenging. Also, I really prefer a card that is religious for most of my mailing list. This card has both design aspects I seek, multiple photos AND a religious message.
Once a card design is picked, Shutterfly has address labels that coordinate with many of the cards so your holiday greeting can have ‘style’. I usually utilize free ones that appear in my mailbox. However, I like the looks of their labels so much more that I might just take the plunge this year and coordinate it all.
Here’s hoping to an early completion of the Christmas card mailing spree.
So has anyone else started planning their annual holiday and/or Christmas card mailing?
