Early last week, Stephen began muttering that the boys needed pumpkins to carve. Last year pumpkin carving just didn’t happen as we were quite busy with Little J’s arrival and the upcoming move cross-country.
The boys were not as enthusiastic about pumpkins as their dad was. So, with little fan fare, Stephen, Little J and I picked up three pumpkins for the boys at the local Wal-Mart while they attended faith formation classes.
Once the carving began, the boys started having fun. What isn’t fun about digging out all the seeds and then cutting through the flesh to create something uniquely yours? And, eating freshly roasted pumpkins seeds is quite enjoyable.
The pumpkins are sitting on the window sill looking out at the world now. So long as big wildlife roams about outside, it just isn’t prudent to leave anything to attract their attention. And I thought the deer back east could be problematic!
