At the end of December, we had an interesting time with the Board of Review for P’s advancement to First Class. The bumps took us by surprise, but in the end it has worked out fine and was a learning experience for all involved. It has led to changes in the Troop and I’ll most likely be a Committee Member now so they have plenty of non-Assistant Scoutmaster adults to serve on the Boards of Review.
We are both happy he has finally advanced again (after a long hiatus last year with Scouts) AND are proud at his taking on a leadership role. He even ‘winged it’ with the opening prayer as he could not remember which one on his print out he wanted to do. (I took a video, but the acoustics were terrible and you can hardly hear a thing.)
And for anyone noticing, P has now passed me in height! I knew the day would come, but am still feeling a bit sad over his reaching puberty as adulthood is not far behind.
