There are several movies showcasing the life of Christ out there to watch. However, I had not encountered one that showed it through the eyes of Mary Magdalene.
Magdalena: Through Her Eyes takes the Jesus film by Campus Crusade for Christ and recreates it into a movie that does just that…tells the story of Christ’s life through the eyes of Mary Magdalene.
Actually, they have Mary Magdalene narrating the story with some scenes showing her sharing His life story with other girls and women. It’s done in such a way that I can envision a group of women having actually sat around in the evening listening to this follower of Jesus. I know that so much is communicated between the women of today in settings like that, just casually sharing of what we have experienced and learned.
I won’t go into more detail about the movie itself here. You can preview a clip of Magdalena, though. Click here to do so.
Overall, I enjoyed this film and will be sharing it with other friends of mine. Along with the DVD, I was sent a study guide titled “Reflections of Hope” which is inspired by this film and calls the users to deepen their understanding of God’s love for women. You can see more about it on the resource page for Magdalena.
You can purchase Magdalena, with or without the study guide. This film and accompanying Bible study would be great for most women’s groups or possibly to evangelize to women in the community. They even have a suggested schedule for a movie night available. The cost for just the DVD is $15.95 with the one hour or extended version options. Visit the storefront to see more options.
