Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year. Aside from the food and time spent with family and friends, I really enjoy all the heartwarming stories and songs that abound during the season. While I have my favorites, I also enjoy finding new stories that the boys and I can enjoy.
Kirby Puckernut and the Christmas Surprise by Alicia Richardson entered our house and is being read to my younger boys by me.
This delightful story follows a family with a teen aged daughter who no longer believes in Christmas Magic and is quick to tease her younger siblings for believing. However, that might be changing (for the better) as Santa has sent Kirby Puckernut, a Els Mere elf, to their house in December as a test elf for Kirby’s idea of the elves checking on the boys and girls in the days leading up to Christmas.
I won’t divulge more of the story, but will say that the ending is a happy one.
Overall, we’ve enjoyed the story. Elves are a perennial favorite during this time of year and Kirby’s joy filled character makes him a hit. The illustrations are wonderfully done and really help to bring the story to life.
Check out this short trailer about the book:
You can purchase just the oversized hardback book for $17.95 or purchase it along with a Kirby elf for your shelf (price varies on package selected.) For every book sold, $1 will be donated to Kenya Keys.
