I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
I love to participate in memes, especially ones that give you specific things to cover in a post. I’ve seen a few homeschool week in review types of post in the past, but never got around to participating. Then, while posting my review of The Key to the Kingdom, I noticed that Mel from Mama Buzz was starting up one. She did a lovely post and it looked like no one had linked up yet. So, I’m going to spread a little bloggy love and do a late wrap up for last week.
Week of February 28th (2011) Homeschool Wrap-Up
Theme for our studies this week…. There’s no particular theme beyond the ‘get on track and get work done.’ History is finishing up WWII at the moment. Otherwise, the boys are all on their own level of work. D was happy to be diving into MUS Gamma with multiplication while P was dragging his feet on fractions in TT’s Pre-Algebra.
A great book/s we read…. sadly, it was not a big reading week for us
One lesson or interesting fact we learned…. we watched The Hiding Place as part of history and learned ways people helped the Jews during WWII. We also found it interesting that release papers for those few incarcerated individuals released from a concentration camp had them stating no ill treatment occurred during their stay.
We had a lightbulb moment this week…. when we got a ton accomplished on the day we stayed home!
As Mom/teacher, I found this week to be…. a bit harried with a few extracurricular activities and meetings for me.
A favorite hands-on project…. bad homeschool mama here hasn’t done much hands on this week. P and one other attendee at my co-op science class tried to make a homemade spectrometer. No pictures, though.
We laughed when…. oh, no..did we laugh this past week?? Okay, the boys constantly laugh at ‘potty humor’, but that’s not where I want to take this post or the blog.
Craft idea for this week…. no ideas to share :o(
I am praying for my children to…. embrace their schooling and work within the family as ways to grow in holiness.
I am learning to…. let go of perfectionist ideas that keep me from acting and actually start taking control of the chaos I call life. (Look for a review and giveaway this week for a book on this topic, Pretty Neat.)
My favorite new resource is…. Big IQ Kids for D and R (look for a review coming on the 25th of this month!)
Pic of the week….I still love the one of Mr. O and Little J napping in the sun!
