Today I wanted to share about our homeschool group’s "Happy Birthday, Jesus!" party. It was last Friday afternoon. D, J and I went..albeit a little late.
We missed the short nativity play that was done by several of the younger kids. But, we arrived in time to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and partake of the super, yummy cake one mom made for the party. J devoured just over half of the piece I shared with him and D enjoyed seeing friends. J also loved wandering about the smaller base chapel.
I love the idea of recognizing Christ as THE reason for Christmas. The older boys were at an all day program on base and commented they would have felt odd going to a birthday party for Jesus. I guess that’s just a side effect of being older. Maybe I’ll bake a cake for Christmas and have our own birthday party in house!
