I do not think my boys are unique in enjoying some TV viewing. However, the shows on the TV are not always ones that I want them watching. Kidoodle.TV might be changing that concern with their fun and safe shows for kids.
About Fun and Safe Shows for Kids with Kidoodle.TV
The best way I can describe Kidoodle.TV is to say it is an online, streaming subscription service which offers a safe viewing environment between its combination of shows available and the parental controls put into place.
Kidoodle.TV was built for kids with ease of use with a brightly colored, easy-to-use interface. Parents can set up profiles for up to 5 kids, selecting the entertainment and educational content from a variety of sources. Kidoodle.TV is still new and growing with plans to add more options in the future.
Parents can rest easy as the shows selected do not have adult content. Plus, you have the ability to tailor the available content to each child’s needs. When selecting which content to make available, you can start off by selecting the ages you want content to best fit. Also, the parent has to log into Kidoodle.TV and select the profile before giving the child navigational control.
Our Experience with Fun and Safe Shows for Kids with Kidoodle.TV
As I mentioned, the boys enjoy watching shows when allowed. However, some of the options on the regular TV channels have me wanting to keep them hooked up with just DVDs. So, I was curious how they would like the shows on Kidoodle.TV and what I would think about both the selection and safety features.
Setting up the profiles was pretty simple to do. The parent generates their main account and then are given the opportunity to set up a child’s profile.
During the set up for the child, you can choose from the many available shows. In the screenshot below, you can see that I left all age groups selected. Deselecting particular age ranges will make some of the shows no longer be available to ‘turn on’ for their profile.
After getting registered on the computer, we decided to use the Kidoodle.TV app for the iPad. J loves to watch a show on the ‘I’ as he can hold it on his lap and be pretty much anywhere in the house to do it.
When logging them into the app, I loved the ability to set how long it could be running. As some boys will disappear with the iPad or laptop for hours on end if not checked, this is a fantastic feature to have.
R got in on the fun while helping him find the first show to watch. So far, his favorites are Transformers, Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World. Considering he loves to play games with those characters, I am not surprised by his choices!
I am looking forward to having this ‘tool’ in my kit for keeping the younger boys occupied. Using the iPod makes it easy to watch on the run when hooked into free wifi or tethered to my phone.
