When fall arrives, so does the football season. People all around the country get into a routine set by the schedule of their favorite teams. This could be tailgating at a stadium or setting up a spread in your home to watch on the TV.
An Easier Approach to Football, Food & Fun on Game Day
When it comes to those gatherings, no host or hostess wants to be caught in the kitchen missing out on the action. That’s why a good game plan is needed when it comes to food.
An easy approach is in order. For years, I have favored a buffet-style spread of food that people can grab when they want it. While you can replenish items, it is ready ahead of the game allowing the host or hostess to be in on the action.
Aside from a few additional items we do for the big game to make it a large food spread, this recent set up in our house was simple to prepare and the family loved it.
Easy Food Idea #1: Jersey Mike’s Catering
Submarine sandwiches are a great option for your game day spread. Rather than having everything spread out for people to assemble, you have things ready to grab with extra condiments at the ready.
Ordering through the Jersey Mike’s Catering menu makes it easy on any host or hostess. You just pick 4 different subs and they put it all together in an awesome box for serving. Each ‘giant’ sub is cut into 6 pieces providing a total of 24 pieces in the box.
They offer online ordering for your catering event or you can call your local storefront to get it all set up. Just keep in mind to order early for game day so they have it all ready when you want to pick it up.
And, they have you covered if gluten-free eating is a must for you or your guests. Each sandwich piece in the box is wrapped and you can order one or more of the sandwiches on gluten-free submarine bread for an additional charge. I did just that for me and loved that they put GF next to the sandwich number on the box for all to see.
Easy Food Idea #2: popchips
I have enjoyed this brand in the past and enjoyed what I had. In the Babblebox I was sent, they included the ‘bold & crunchy’ popchips ridges in buffalo ranch, tangy barbecue, and cheddar & sour cream.
Beyond being tasty, these are a great snack option to have on hand. They are gluten-free as well as being a healthier food choice for snacking better-for-you option that won’t leave you feeling greasy or guilty.
For those buffalo wings lovers, the buffalo ranch popchips give you all the flavor without the mess. There is some ‘heat’ on the first bite followed by a bit of cooling from the ranch.
These are perfect for ‘homegating’ during the game! You can find them at your local grocery store or online to ship straight to your home.
Easy Food Idea #3: Old Wisconsin Turkey Snack Bites
This is a great snack option, especially if you are gluten-free or following a paleo diet. There is lots of flavor with protein in each piece.
I put out the Old Wisconsin Honey Brown Sugar Turkey Snack Bites for our recent game day. This has a blend of sweet and smoky in each bite while the turkey is a lean meat option. They also come in original beef or turkey.
Whichever flavor profile you choose, these are great for snacking.
So there you have it: 3 easy food ideas to add to your spread whether it is the Big Game, another game day, or another event in your life.
