That’s in part because I haven’t felt like a particularly ‘fit’ mommy.
Well, I might not be going gangbusters on exercise or diet. BUT, I haven’t completely backtracked, either.
Earlier this month, my parents came to visit. We ate out THREE times in three days. Each time, though, I was very conscious of portion sizes. Half the meat from my sandwich and most of the corn fritters from my dinner at Sourdough Mining Company came home with me for other meals. Half my sandwich and fries came home with me from dinner at Red Robin (even those grilled chicken sandwiches like I ordered really carry a caloric punch.) The server surprised R and I with birthday sundaes there and I shared it with the other boys. And, our lunch out at Carl’s Jr. had me getting one of the healthier burgers without mayo and I shared J’s fries.
Also, I am really trying to do one thing from the Let’s Do Lunch book I recently reviewed….eating fruit when the late night munchies hit! I’m not ready to give up my homemade bread from freshly ground grain, pasta or potatoes. But, I do plan to incorporate other aspects of his ‘program’, especially testing some of the recipes.
Exercise has been hit or miss….a few days on the Wii Fit, a few times on the treadmill, dancing with (or for) Little J, etc. Mostly, I just try to make sure there’s some time each day when I’m not just sedentary. Yesterday had a LOT of walking around the Alaska State Fair. And, I resisted all those vendor’s emitting wonderful aromas….just a few bites of kettle corn that a friend had bought.
The scale shows that I must be doing something right! The number isn’t dropping down drastically, but yesterday morning’s weigh in had me another pound down over the past few weeks. So, I am now 5 pounds lighter than when J was conceived.
Goals…..to keep on keeping on the path to health.
- Eat less processed junk food.
- Fit in bursts of activity where I can plus some sustained exercise a few times each week.
- Get plenty of good sleep (the scale actually moves UP when I have periods of bad sleep!)
So, there you have it…Laura O’s check in for the past few weeks. You can read what the other Fit Mommy’s are up to on Got Chai?
